Building Bonfires

We are approaching bonfire night and have already noticed bonfires being built in the Penyrheol area. We understand this is a lot of fun for some people but just ask that you ensure you are safe when building and lighting these fires.

Advice from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service on what you MUST NOT DO when building and burning bonfires -

Don't burn household waste: or anything that creates excessive smoke or fumes.

Don't burn plastic, rubber tires, foam, or painted materials, as these are harmful and could lead to a prosecution by the council.

Don't use accelerants: like petrol or oil, as this can cause loss of control.

Don't let the smoke cause a nuisance, especially for neighbours.

Don't leave the fire unattended: or create risks to people or property.

South Wales Fire and Rescue along with your local Neighbourhood Policing Team want everyone to enjoy Bonfire Night in a safe manner.
